“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. If we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same.”

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring to class?

Bring a big towel, water, and a yoga sticky mat. We have mats for rent and sale at the studio.  You also should wear workout clothes.

How often should I practice power vinyasa yoga?

For transformational results we recommended 3-5 times a week, but whatever works best for you is best and will bring great results. Use your own intuition and wisdom to develop the appropriate schedule for you.  Consistency is the key to your success.

What temperature is the studio heated to?

The studio is heated to 95-105 degrees for All Levels Classes and 85-90 degrees for Basics Classes.  Yin classes are heated to 85 degrees.

Why is the studio heated?

Heat is brought to this style of yoga in 3 ways - the heat in the studio, the heat generated by the yoga practice, and the heat generated from our breath (Ujjayii).  The heat helps in the following areas:

  • Warm up your muscles more quickly to support a fluid yoga practice while minimizing injury.
  • Heat equals sweating, which is detoxifying for the body and gives your kidneys a rest.
  • The heat creates a challenge to help your mind focus on the breath and be still.
  • Heat increases the efficiency of other physical systems such as the cardiovascular, nervous, digestion, and immune systems.
  • In Sanskrit, the word tapas means “heat”.  In the yogic tradition, tapas can be translated as “essential energy”, referring to a focused effort leading one towards bodily purification and spiritual enlightenment.  We are actively supporting the concept of tapas or “heat” in our practice and the heat purifies us on a physical, mental and emotional level.  It helps “burns off” and prevent negative energy and adverse reactions, clearing a path toward more lightness and clarity of spirit

Where do I park?

Ample parking is available in the attached parking lot.

I am new to yoga, but the Basics classes do not fit into my schedule.  Can I attend an all levels class?

We encourage new students to come to whatever class fits best in their schedule.  The pacing may be a little faster in an All Levels class, but modifications are often given.  Simply show up and do as much as you can.  You can always modify or take Child’s Pose.

How can power vinyasa yoga help me relieve stress?

Yoga reminds us to take time for ourselves. It is well-known that exercise relieves stress, and yoga offers the same promise and more. The stretching and strengthening of yoga recharge and balance the body, and the inner awareness from yogic breathing and meditation calms the mind. When the body is open and strong and the mind is focused and calm, we are empowered to face the challenges of life with freshness and self-confidence.

Can I do power vinyasa yoga at any age, or if I am out of shape or inflexible?

No one is too old, stiff or out of shape to do power vinyasa yoga. Now is a great time to start!  We also offer Power Yoga Basics or Power Hour classes for those people just starting power yoga.

How can power vinyasa yoga help me with physical limitations or problems?

Many injuries and chronic aches and pains are caused by overdoing or under-doing. We might be overworking some areas of the body while others become weak. Just the inactivity of sitting at a desk all day can cause problems with our physical health.  The body likes to move and stretch.  Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga offers a complete method of stretching and strengthening so that the whole body becomes revitalized and toned, and its capacity to heal is increased.
